John Sinclair
Cello
2022-2023 Season
John Sinclair was born and raised in Butler, Pennsylvania. His love for music started in the fourth grade when he decided he'd play cello because, at the time, "it was bigger than he was". John went on to be a vocalist and multi-instrumentalist, eventually picking up (and putting down) piano, saxophone, guitar, bass, tuba, and bassoon, before calming down and studying Cello Performance at Ithaca College in Ithaca, NY. John has had the pleasure of studying with Lynn Kriester and Henrietta Voyavidch while in high school, and had the privilege of studying under Einar J. Holm while at Ithaca College. Graduating in 1993, John went on to a career in Information Technology, eventually ending up as the Director of IT at the MSPCA/Angell Animal Medical Center in Boston.
Musically, John has had such varied experiences as playing upright bass in many community big bands, playing cello in various chamber music groups and orchestras, and singing in a Barbershop Quartet with the late Teddy Kennedy (before his passing).
John currently plays bass with Stoney's Wicked Din and the Bedford Big Band, and has enjoyed leading the cello section with the NCO for the last two seasons. John would also like to thank his beautiful wife Shannon of twenty-five years and wonderful boys Jack, Noah, and Liam for supporting him throughout his musical endeavors and putting up with all the late-night rehearsals.
