Sarah Heimberg
Trumpet
2018-2019 Season
Sarah Heimberg is an avid young trumpet player, and is currently a senior at Merrimack High School. She loves playing the trumpet, because it allows her to express herself in many ways, and finds that it reveals a variety of colors and characters of sound. Sarah has studied privately with several teachers, including Terry Everson, Ben Wright, Andrew Sorg, and Jay Daly.
Since starting trumpet in fifth grade, Sarah has appeared as a soloist with the Nashua Chamber Orchestra, Portsmouth Symphony Orchestra, New Hampshire Philharmonic, at many recitals, and in churches in London and Paris. She has also played with the New Hampshire All-State Honors Jazz Band, Concert Band, and Orchestra, and is a member of the Boston Philharmonic Youth Orchestra. She founded a brass quintet with other local high school students, Karner Blue Brass, a group promoting gender equality in the music world by playing many works of female composers. During her summers, Sarah has enjoyed attending UNH’s Junior SYMS, the Boston University Tanglewood Institute, and the Atlantic Brass Quintet Summer Seminar.
In addition to her musical endeavors, Sarah is a life-long Girl Scout, and has completed her Bronze, Silver, and Gold Awards. Sarah is an active member of the National Honor Society, Merrimack High School Math Team, Merrimack High School Quiz Bowl Team, Merrimack Safeguard, and 100 Nights of Remembrance at the New Hampshire State Veterans’ Cemetery. As a creative writer, she has written many novel beginnings that have yet to be completed. She lives with her parents, her brother Jon, and her two dogs, Ruby and Mozi (short for Mozart). Someday, Sarah would like to be an international soloist and have three cats named Wasabi, Bernstein and Copland, after her favorite composer duo.
